Choosing a race day
- Derby Day is a Saturday option with a classic black-and-white style cue.
- Melbourne Cup Day is the date to choose if you want to watch the Melbourne Cup.
- Oaks Day suggests a lighter, floral look.
- Champions Stakes Day brings the four-day carnival to a close.
Tickets and entry
General Admission provides access to public areas, where you can watch the races and post-race entertainment. It does not include a reserved grandstand seat. Children under 12 can enter free with a ticketed adult, but a child ticket still needs to be selected when booking. Youth tickets are available for ages 12–17. Check the current ticket conditions when purchasing, as options and availability may vary.
To book, select your date through the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) website and continue to Ticketmaster for ticketing.
What to wear
There is no compulsory dress code in the General Admission areas, and hats or fascinators are optional. Dresses, suits and shirts are all suitable starting points; you can use the style cue for your chosen day as inspiration.
Members’ areas and some designated dining areas have their own dress requirements, so check the rules for your ticket before you go. For the Members’ areas, men should plan on a jacket, tailored trousers, a shirt, a tie or bow tie, and formal shoes.
Flemington includes lawn areas, so choose shoes you can comfortably walk in. Bringing a jacket is also a practical option.
